Syzygia vs dots

dots are OpenAI’s always-on agents, announced at DevDay on September 29, 2026: each person gets a dot that lives in OpenAI’s cloud with its own computer and browser, takes on ongoing responsibilities and can be reached in ChatGPT, Slack, Teams or a call. Syzygia is the Agentic Operating System (Agentic OS) for companies: role-based agents work in departments under a CEO agent, with approvals and a cost cap on every execution. A dot suits a person who wants one capable agent across their apps; Syzygia suits companies that want specialists for each department.

How it’s organized

Who does the work, and how it’s organized

Syzygia: a staffed department

Syzzy, your CEO agent, coordinates specialists in each department. They work on schedules, delegate to each other and ask before anything important.

Always on · its own cloud computer

dots: one always-on agent per person

Your dot takes on ongoing goals, works in the background on its own cloud computer and reaches you in ChatGPT, Slack, Teams or a call.

Inside Syzygia

What the work looks like in Syzygia

Not a blank chat and not a flowchart: agents with a role, a schedule and a person approving what matters.

Ask, then approve

Ask Syzzy in plain language. Agents prepare the work and wait for your go-ahead: on every action in Ask mode, and always on payments.

Briefs on WhatsApp and email

Scheduled tasks run on their own — like a daily “bills due” report at 08:00 — and land where you already are.

The cost of every execution

Each execution shows the credits it used, and the agent’s tier caps what a single execution can spend.

Which one, for which job

Both are good tools. They are built for different jobs.

Pick dots if…

  • You want one agent that keeps working toward your goals across your apps.
  • You already work in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams.
  • You already pay for ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium.

Pick Syzygia if…

  • You want departments staffed by specialists, coordinated by a CEO agent.
  • You want specialists that keep business records: a ledger, payables, a CRM.
  • You want briefs on WhatsApp and email, and a cost cap on every execution.
Running both? A personal always-on agent and a company of department specialists can coexist; they cover different work.

Questions we hear

Which teams get more out of Syzygia than out of dots?

When you want specialists organized in departments under a CEO agent, approvals on payments (and on publishing, if you turn them on), briefs on WhatsApp and email, and a cost cap on every execution.

Are dots ever the better pick?

When you want one agent that keeps working toward your own goals across your apps, and you already use ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium.

What does each one cost?

dots are included in eligible ChatGPT plans — Pro (outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) and Business Premium; on Enterprise an administrator has to turn on the beta. Syzygia has two monthly plans with Syzygia Credits included — Personal $99 and Ramp-up $400 — and a Custom plan for larger teams; each execution is capped by the agent’s tier.

Do they work side by side?

Yes. A personal always-on agent and a company of department specialists cover different work.

How do approvals work in Syzygia?

Each conversation runs in Ask or Auto mode; in Ask mode the agent waits for your OK before every action. Payments always wait for a person to approve them in the Hub, and publishing can too: each publishing agent has an “Approval before publishing” setting. Every execution is logged with the credits it used.
